A lot of the industry runs on a low headline price plus a long list of optional extras added at pickup: a per-kilometre charge past some limit, a "booking fee," a card surcharge, an under-25 surcharge, and an inflated bond. By the time you're at the counter, a $40/day quote can easily become $70+ once everything's added. We built our pricing the opposite way — the price you see when you check availability already includes the things that usually get added later.

How Our Daily Rate Actually Breaks Down
Our 19-vehicle fleet ranges from NZD 60 a day for a compact hatchback to NZD 130 a day for a 7-seater, averaging around NZD 97. That's the number you'll actually be charged for the vehicle itself — insurance cover is selected and priced separately, starting from included for Basic Cover, and shown clearly before you book, not sprung on you at the counter.
Ways to Get an Even Lower Rate
- Book 2-3 days instead of 1. Multi-day bookings typically bring the daily rate down 10-25%, depending on the vehicle.
- Travel outside December-January. Rates are lowest from around May to September and highest over the summer holiday peak — booking a shoulder-season trip saves the most.
- Book direct. Going through our own site means no third-party booking-platform margin added on top.
What's Genuinely Not Included
To be upfront: fuel isn't included (return the car at roughly the same level it had at pickup), and New Zealand's toll roads — like Auckland's Northern Gateway — are paid directly by the driver, not through us. Insurance cover is priced per day as shown in our pricing table and chosen at the time of booking. Those are the only costs outside the quoted daily rate.
